Liminalia is a threshold space, provoking you to question your domestication and what should be done indoors rather than out. From outdoor dinning to bathing, this space invites you to examine your patterns and reimagine what is possible.
Front lawn – The lawn in the front of the house is the most domestic of spaces. It gets warm morning sun, and is shady in the late summer afternoons. It is a perfect place to start or end any day.
Back lawn – The lawn behind the house with the picnic tables at one end stays mostly in the shade, making it a comfortable place to gather even in the warmest of summer days.
Picnic Tables – Multiple large, wood picnic tables sit on the lawn in the back of the house. Tables seat up to eight and they can be arranged in a variety of configurations.
Fire Pit – Just behind the house and perched above Rock Creek is a fire pit with seating for small groups (4-10). This is a cozy spot to spend cool days or chilly fall evenings listening to Salmon spawning in the creek beside you.
Deva Daaru – The sacred cedar who presides over this property is an antennae between heaven and earth. Climb inside their trunk cavity to receive powerful transmissions.
Fire Circle – At the foot of the Sacred Cedar tree (Deva Daaru) is a large fire circle for bigger gatherings with seating on cut stumps for 20.
Swimming Beach – Just past the Sacred Cedar tree, and through the elk fencing gate, is a grassy, sloping hill leading down to an easy entrance into Rock Creek. Wade from the shoreline to find the 4-5 foot deep swimming hole, in front of the small grassy island. This private spot is the perfect place to cool off on a hot summer day (with or without a bathing suit).
Forest – Wandering paths are cut through the wet, mossy, fern-filled forest by the house and along the creek. The shade of cedars, fir, and alder keep the forest cool, even on the hottest day. There is no poison oak or ivy, but keep your eye out for stinging nettle – or it will find you.
Sky Bed- This seasonal treat is a perfect place for lounging in the mid-day sun, napping in the afternoon shade, or taking in the Milky Way at night.
Hammocks- we have hammocks for one, for two, and even for three hidden around the property. Find an open one and take a rest!
Night Sky- with no light pollution, on clear nights you have a rare view of the heavens. The milky way streaks across the property and we see countless shooting stars and meteors.
Swing– an epically tall swing hangs just outside the barn. Its slow pace recalibrates your nervous system.
Garden – The large garden is growing food for the caretaker family with extra to share with friends and visitors. Strawberries will be ripe in June, raspberries in July, blueberries in August.
There is something truly magical about this place. It feels like a place of healing and groundedness. Connection felt real and unforced. You can just absorb the beauty of the land and feel a calmness of spirit that changed me. Thank you.”
